The American Library Association introduces STARnet (Science-Technology Activities & Resources For Libraries) and is inviting all public libraries, especially those serving rural populations and under served groups to apply to host one of three traveling STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) exhibitions during February 2016 to July 2018. The three exhibitions are:

  • Explore Earth: Our Changing Planet
  • Explore Space: Our Solar System and Beyond
  • Explore Tech: Engineers Make a World of Difference

Apply for your chance to host the exhibit or get more info at STARNet Explore. The deadline for applications is September 18th and the chosen libraries will be notified by November 13th. Each exhibition will be awarded to 13-14 different libraries along with a $1000 grant to publicize the exhibition. All shipping costs related to the exhibition will be paid by the project. Libraries will also receive access to the STAR_Net Online Community which is forum for host libraries to contact organizations and individuals for programming help, share programming resources and program outcomes, access to a growing library of STEM activity resources, and grant opportunities. Any questions regarding the exhibitions or the application process can be directed to the ALA Public Programs Office at (312) 280-5045 or toll free at (800) 545-2433 x 5045. You can also e-mail publicprograms@ala.org.
