The UNM Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center seeks an independent thinking and versatile professional to serve as the Library Services Coordinator for its Resources, Archives, and Discovery (RAD) unit.   The position requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a desire to work behind the scenes of an academic library. The Coordinator will report to the library operations manager in RAD. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and coordinating electronic serials in the library’s electronic resources management tool
  • Maintaining usage statistics for electronic resources
  • Managing administrative duties for serials such as communicating with vendors, receiving invoices, as well as handling change notifications, cancellations, and ceased and new titles
  • Troubleshooting access issues to electronic resources
  • Suggesting process improvements for collecting statistics
  • Creating and maintaining written procedures

     

The Coordinator will participate in special projects and work closely with members of RAD to prioritize digitization projects from the library’s special collections and institutional repository, create metadata, and develop workflow processes for adding digital content to appropriate systems.

Please note that the employee may be required to lift/push up to 25 pounds. Funding for travel/relocation expenses are not available for this position.See the Position Description for additional information.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree; at least 4 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree, at time of hire, in library or information science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution
  • Two or more years of experience working in library technical services
  • Experience managing electronic serials or other subscription-based electronic resources in an integrated library system or electronic resources management tool
  • Experience using metadata standards such as RDA, MARC, Dublin Core, and/or KBART
  • Ability to write and edit concise support documentation, such as step-by-step instructions or procedures
  • Experience troubleshooting customer service issues
  • Experience working independently on projects, organizing resources, and establishing priorities
  • Experience working in a team environment
