The University of New Mexico (UNM) College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences (CULLS) seeks a Program Specialist for the Indigenous Nations Library Program (INLP).
The INLP Program Specialist is responsible for all facets of the day-to-day operations and program activities of the Indigenous Nations Library Program (INLP). INLP supports Indigenous learning, promotes Indigenous scholarship, and cultivates Indigenous creation. The program cultivates and supports Indigenous people to be agents of change in their community by providing culturally relevant learning environments and information services, and developing a community of scholars. The INLP Program Specialist:
- Oversees and manages the Indigenous Nations Library Program (INLP) space in Zimmerman Library, which includes technology enabled meeting and study spaces, as well as display and collection spaces.
- Supervises and evaluates student employees who staff INLP’s service desk..
- Plans and implements program initiatives that serve Native American/Indigenous communities, including introductions to the UNM University Libraries resources and services, information literacy instruction, and support of collections.
- Provides information and reference services. Creates, produces, and delivers a range of promotional, educational, and informational presentations, and develops resource materials.
- Together with the Native American Collections Curator, liaises with the UNM community and New Mexico Native American/Indigenous communities and provides, consultation, and support to INLP constituencies as appropriate.
- Develops and manages INLP program resources and identifies opportunities to enhance program services and operations. Compiles and analyzes data for reports, presentations, and other presentations. Develops program operating goals, objectives, and protocols.
- Works collaboratively with Access Services and colleagues across University Libraries, including with the Native American Collections Curator.

Conditions of Employment:
- Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University’s influenza vaccination requirement.

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
- Two years library experience.
- Customer service experience.
- Familiarity with New Mexico Native American/Indigenous communities.
- Experience providing information and reference services, including services delivered in person and online
- Experience with program or service activity planning and evaluation
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
- Teaching or training experience
- Knowledge of a Native American language.
Salary: Full-time position, $3,199.73 to $4,585.53 monthly. Benefits eligible position.
