Pueblo Opera Program

The Pueblo Opera Program of the Santa Fe Opera provides a wonderful opportunity for children from the Pueblo communities of New Mexico to attend dress rehearsals at the world renowned performance space. This year libraries from the Pueblos of Acoma, Jemez, Laguna, Ohkay Owingeh, Cochiti, San Ildefonso, San Felipe, Santo Domingo and Tesuque brought children to the dress rehearsals of Puccini’s Girl of the Golden West and Don Giovanni.

The Romeo and Juliet Opera by Gounod on July 12th will also be a performance offered by Pueblo Opera Program. Buses to and from the pueblos to the opera are provided by the Newman Foundation and dinner is provided to the participants by Omaha Steaks. The Pueblo Opera Program is celebrating it’s 43rd year. The Program has been recognized by the Pueblo leadership through Proclamation.
