Purpose of Position:
This position resides at Rural Bookmobile Northeast. This position delivers services to rural underserved communities in southwest New Mexico by driving a 35-foot bookmobile to designated rural areas, and provide a full range of library services including a circulating collection of books, magazines, and audio-visual materials, reference services, and Interlibrary Loan. This position supports all aspects of these services both on the Bookmobile and in the Cimarron Public Library by data entry in an automated library computer system, maintaining patron records, copy cataloging and processing new materials, ordering and processing Interlibrary Loans, selecting new materials, and statistical records keeping. This position physically assists patrons getting on and off the Bookmobile with their heavy book bags, ensuring patron safety. This position shares driving of the bookmobile with a co-worker.

Due to the available budget allocated for this position the hiring rate will not exceed $13.96 per hour.

This position is a Pay Band 45

Employment Requirements:
Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results. Successful candidate must complete state offered Defensive Driving course prior to operating state vehicle. Must possess and maintain a current and valid Driver’s License.

Working Conditions:
Overnight travel is required two to three nights per week. Three (3) to four (4) day long Bookmobile trips per week result in work schedules that often exceed eight (8) hours per day. Exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some standing, bending and reaching me be required. This position is required to travel two (2) weeks of each month. Some overnight travel is required (2-3 nights per week).

Exempt. FLSA status may be determined to be different at the agency level based on the agency’s utilization of the position.

Bargaining Unit:
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
