Position Summary The UNM-Taos Branch Library is looking for a part time Library Information Specialist I to assist in providing quality service to the students, faculty, and the community-at-large. The position encompasses a variety of areas of responsibility in regards to general library operations as well as assistance with the online environment and graphic design work for the promotion of the library. Under limited supervision, the Library Information Specialist will perform library tasks related to website design and maintenance, maintenance of all library computers, library event planning, and answering reference questions as needed. The successful candidate will support the assistant librarian, cover the circulation desk, and monitor the activities of students performing routine library duties. This variety of duties and responsibilities makes for an exciting position.

Conditions of Employment
  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications Experience with automated library systems.

 

Experience developing flyers, brochures, newsletters and other graphic design projects for promotion and general library information.

 

Ability to troubleshoot operational problems for relevant library systems, and assist with computer application questions.

 

Ability to provide guidance and assistance to patrons regarding library services and resources.

 

Computer proficiency including ability to move from a PC to a Mac environment
